Moose Jaw is expecting plenty of sunshine and dry days this week.

Terri Lang, meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, said that people should be aware of the dangers of the dry conditions that could lead to grass fires, and be careful with possible sources of ignition.

"We're in what's called the spring dip - which is when all the snow melts away, but nothing has greened up yet. The land is really dry, and really conducive to fire starts."

She added that with the higher UV index this week, people should take extra precautions to protect themselves from the intensity of the sun.

"Just a reminder to put on sunscreen, because that's something we haven't thought about since probably last fall."

Daytime highs this week are expected to be in the high teens to lows 20s. Lang said rain is not expected until sometime next week.
