We're up and above 100mm of rain in the past in the Moose Jaw area and that's certainly something to celebrate after such a long dry spell.

Crops Extension Specialist Shannon Friesen says with 91% of the Provincial crop in the ground there won't be too many people complaining about taking a break form field work this past weekend.

"It was most welcome by most producers in the south as fields have been very dry," said Friesen. "Sometimes when we get large amounts of rain in a short amount of time, we'll get localized flooding and some of that rainfall running off of the fields."

When it comes to the hail that pelted the Moose Jaw area, Friesen doesn't think it did too much damage since we're so early into the growing season. She explained that most crops are still under ground or just emerging and shouldn't have been harmed too much.
