Many roads and highways in the province are experiencing flooding, just like Highway 8

What started out as an annoyance has turned into a serous situation in Saskatchewan.  A massive moisture system moved in over the province late Sunday afternoon, unleashing epic amounts of rain.

Forecasters are saying some areas have been hit with 230mm of rain since the skies opened up.  Here in Moose Jaw we've collected at least 20mm of rain with more on the way, but we've had it easy. The City of Regina was asking resident to refrain from using water in an attempt to keep water out of their sewer system.  Drains were backed up into the streets and underpasses were flooded leaving many vehicles stuck under water.

Meanwhile, the town of Gainsborough is under a mandatory evacuation order due to area roads being flooded. Highway 1 is closed in both directions due to flooding in Wolseley. Highway 2 between Penzance and Stalwart is also closed because of water on the roadway.

The system has settled in for the rest of the day with showers and thundershowers expected to last into the evening hours.  Another 10mm of rain is expected by Tuesday morning with Regina and areas to the northeast still under a rain fall warning.
