Team Canada was given a bit of a scare on Thursday at the 2017 IIHF World Championship as they fell behind 2-1 to France in the second period.

Canada eventually righted the ship with a goal from Claude Giroux in the final minute of the second to tie the game. Marc-Edouard Vlasic potted the game-winner in the first three minutes of the third to lift Canada to a 3-2 win in Paris.

Ryan O’Reilly opened the scoring for the Canadians with a power play goal 5:19 into the game, but France answered back at the nine-minute mark on a goal from Olivier Dame-Malka.

Damien Fleury scored a power play goal for France 1:37 into the second period to give them the lead.

Chad Johnson made 22 saves for the win, while Canada fired 35 shots on France’s net.

Canada – featuring former Moose Jaw Warriors captain Brayden Point – now sits at 4-0 at the world championship.

They return to the ice on Saturday to take on Switzerland. Puck drops at 12:15 p.m. Saskatchewan time.
