On Wednesday night, the Moose Jaw Peewee Mustangs moved one step closer to finishing off a perfect season in the Queen City Box Lacrosse League.

The Mustangs went into Regina and beat the Estevan Voltz, 11-7, to secure a spot in the league championship game.

Moose Jaw jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first period and led 7-0 heading into the third. Estevan started to mount a comeback early in the final frame with three goals in a span of 2:18, but the Mustangs responded with two more goals to take back control.

All seven of Estevan’s goals came in the third period.

Eric Woodley and Liam Fitzpatrick had a hat trick and four points each in the win for Moose Jaw, while Colton Ebbett chipped in with two goals and Rowan Calvert added a goal and three points.

Josh Johnson had a goal and two points, and Carter Michaluk scored the other marker for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs will now await their opponent in the league final next week.

Bantam: White Mustangs 7 Estevan 3

The Moose Jaw White Mustangs opened their playoffs in the QCMBL’s Bantam Division on Wednesday with a 7-3 win over the Estevan Warriors at the Al Ritchie Arena in Regina.

Kael Nichols and Tyson Broomfield had two goals each in the win for Moose Jaw, while Ethan Peters, Austin Bourdeau and Calaen Fitzpatrick also scored.

The White Mustangs advance to the next round of the playoffs with the win. Their next opponent is still to be determined.
