The Moose Jaw Padres came up just short of capturing their first Qu’Appelle Valley Baseball League championship on Tuesday night.

The Padres lost 6-5 to the Regina Trappers in the decisive third game of the championship series on Tuesday in the Queen City, ending their great run towards the league title.

Moose Jaw jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning, but the Trappers slowly chipped away at the advantage and took the lead with a four-run fifth inning.

After pitching a complete game in the Game 2 win last week, Dustin Caplette went five innings in the loss on Tuesday.

This was the Padres’ first appearance in the league championship.
