The final stretch drive towards the playoffs is here with just three weeks and nine games remaining in the regular season for the Moose Jaw Warriors.

The Warriors currently sit in first place in the Western Hockey League, but they’re happy the month of February is in the rear view mirror after dropping five of 13 games over the course of the month.

Despite their up-and-down play during the month, the Warriors remain confident that when they play their game, they will find success.

“When we’re playing well, we’re sticking to the game plan, we’re working hard, we’re playing with our skill and speed and it’s been really effective,” said defenceman Josh Brook.

The Warriors ended the month of February on a winning note, handing the Kootenay Ice a 5-2 loss in Cranbrook on Wednesday. That win gives Moose Jaw some positive momentum heading into March.

The team is confident that they’ve turned the corner and can start pushing towards the playoffs.

“We had a couple of tough games (over the last month), but we talked and said it’s about playing a full 60, everybody buying in and working hard,” said forward Tristan Langan, who has four points in his last four games.

“When everybody buys in, everybody works hard and we have four lines rolling, we’re a really good team. That’s what we’ve got to keep focusing on coming into the end of the season.”

This week has been busy for the Warriors as they will play four games in five days in four different provinces. It started with a 4-3 loss in Lethbridge on Tuesday, but Moose Jaw bounced back the next night to win over the Ice in B.C. After a day at home, the Warriors packed up Friday morning for a quick trip to Manitoba to face the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Langan said the team came into this week prepared for the challenge in front of them, “It’s been pretty tough, we’re just making sure that we get a lot of rest, a lot of hydration and keep focused on one game at a time.”

The Warriors will finish off the week by hosting the Saskatoon Blades at Mosaic Place on Saturday night.

The Pre-Game Show hits the air on Country 100 at 7:10 p.m. Friday night from Westoba Place in Brandon.

Warriors Call-Up Tracey... 16-year-old forward Brayden Tracey, the Warriors' first round pick in 2016, has joined the team for the remainder of the season after his Calgary Northstars were eliminated from the Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League playoffs. Tracey had 21 goals and 52 points in 30 games this season with the Northstars.
