The Prairie South School Division is looking at its options and one of them is a dynamic shift in the way students go to school on South Hill.

The board has been holding a series of meetings this week to discuss and gather information for a long range facilities plan.  In the preliminary plan released, the board is thinking of closing Riverview Collegiate. Students would go to either Peacock or Central.

Board Chair Gord Stewart says they would then change the building into an elementary school and send kids from Westmount as well as Empire School to that new facility, "The process is that we will put out these proposals, people will look at them, give comments.  We take that feedback, have a look at it, maybe realign things.  We're going to have another same sort of meeting in early May, the first week of May.  The board will look at those and try do the best we can in terms of aligning resources."

Stewart says there are just less students in the school system than in years past. Right now their enrolment is at about 50 percent capacity.
