Two local lacrosse teams opened up their playoffs on Tuesday night on a winning note.

Novice: Mustangs 4 Standing Buffalo 3

The Novice Mustangs, who were undefeated in the regular season, knocked off Standing Buffalo, 4-3, to advance to the semifinals.

Brodyn Pladson had a pair of goals in the win for Moose Jaw, while Kix Nelson and Ryder Gilroy also found the back of the net.

The Mustangs will return to the court next week for the semifinals.

Bantam: Red Mustangs 6 Rock 5

The Bantam Red Mustangs opened their playoffs with a 6-5 win over the Regina Rock at the Al Ritchie Arena.

Atley Calvert led the attack for Moose Jaw with three goals and four points in the win. Captain Ethan Johnson added two goals for the Red Mustangs, while Rowan Calvert had the other marker.

Carter Deitz picked up two assists in the win.

Moose Jaw trailed 3-2 after one, but scored three times in the second period to tie the game at 5-5 heading into the third. Atley Calvert scored his third goal of the night in the third period to give the Red Mustangs the win.

Coming Up... The Bantam White Mustangs will open their playoffs on Wednesday night against the Regina Warriors. They hit the court at the Al Ritchie Arena at 8:30 p.m.

Coming off their playoff opening win on Monday, the Peewee Mustangs will face the Estevan Voltz in the semifinals on Wednesday, 6 p.m, at the Al Ritchie.
