The Moose Jaw Homegrown Market is returning downtown for another year.

The market has been operating for over 20 years in the downtown core. Last Saturday marked this year’s first market and it runs every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the 400 block of Langdon Crescent.

Baked goods, vegetables straight from the garden and homemade crafts are just some of the items that you will find for sale.

“At our market, we are a make it, bake it, grow it market. We require our vendors to make, grow or manufacture the items. We're kind of an artisanal market,” said Moose Jaw Homegrown Market secretary Julie Anne Howe.

Applications to become a vendor can be found on the Moose Jaw Homegrown Market website. Howe noted there are two applications, a vendor application and a public health form, that both need to be filled out.

The cost to become a vendor is $20, but there are some exceptions.

“We do have a not-for-profit program where we offer four free tables a year, and we also have a young vendor program for young entrepreneurs. They should contact the market for more information on those programs,” Howe said.

Howe added that there is no better way to spend a Saturday than down at the market next to Crescent Park.

“We're excited to be running another year. You can't get a better spot. It's so picturesque to spend your Saturday mornings downtown, grab a coffee, walk through the market, hit the library and the gallery and see some ducks in Crescent Park. It's a beautiful way to spend your Saturday morning,” she said.
