Shawna Foster and daughter get ready for Christmas at Riverside Mission

For many, Moose Jaw's Riverside Mission is a place where you can feel accepted and protected.  For people like Moose Jaw's Shawna Foster, it's a place to have the occasional meal with her daughters, and build relationships with others in similar situations.

Foster, who broke her back a few years ago, is currently on social assistance and she and her two daughters (16 and 6 years of age) come for supper at Riverside Mission a few times a week.

the Riverside Mission suppers each week for her and her daughters, socialize, and , who has two daughters, it is a haven like no other.  The Mission, on Manitoba St. in Moose Jaw, held their annual Christmas dinner last night, and Foster says the services Riverside provides are a blessing.

This year will be the first time that the Mission will be open on Christmas Day, and even though they aren't having a dinner, there will be snacks, activities, and good company.

Riverside Mission held their annual Christmas dinner last night. The Riverside Mission strives to put forward a environment in which anyone can be comfortable. Whether you are in need of some company, a meal, or a place to sleep, the mission offers assistance. Shawna Foster has been coming to the mission since 2011, and she says that not only are the staff members wonderful, but the support from the community is something else.

Foster has two daughters, and she says that the Mission has helped her to teach them about what the Christmas season is really about, focusing on love and giving.

Heaping helpings of Christmas spirit, along with a nice meal, were served at Riverside Mission last night.  The Moose Jaw shelter held their annual Christmas dinner at their home on Manitoba Street.  Moose Jaw' Shawna Foster is a weekly visitor to Riverside Mission, coming for meals, socializing and games with her 6-year old daughter.  She says she really enjoys the positive environment Riverside provides.
