The Moose Jaw and District Senior Citizens Association is launching a new fundraiser starting in mid-March.

The association has experienced a set-back in its financial situation and has come up with a unique idea to help raise funds.

"It entails a one thousand piece puzzle and we are selling each piece of the puzzle for $100 and our goal is $100,000," said vice-president Earl Berard. "We have a few items that we would like to upgrade and keep the facility in a keen operating condition."

One area that is in need of upgrades, according to Berard, is the stage and flooring in the XYZ Room at Timothy Eaton Gardens.

The puzzle pieces will be available for purchase starting next month at the front desk at Timothy Eaton Gardens. The preferred method of payment is credit or debit card. The fundraiser will run until February of 2024. Receipts will be available for income tax purposes.

Berard is also encouraging supporters to submit a personal, career, or sports story, or a memorial for a loved one along with the purchase of each puzzle piece.

They will also be looking for sponsors to come on board.

The Moose Jaw and District Senior Citizens' Association will also be hosting monthly fundraising banquets to introduce and thank donors starting in September.

The jigsaw puzzle will be assembled at Timothy Eaton Gardens for public display.

The Moose Jaw & District Senior Citizens Association is located at the Timothy Eaton Gardens at 510 Main St. N. The association is dedicated to the social, physical and mental well-being of the community’s seniors aged 50 and over. The centre includes a café which provides full meals to seniors at a reduced cost and is also available for private hall rentals and on-site catering.

"Right now our membership is getting near 400 people and its continually growing because there's a lot of activities in our centre," added Berard.
