The Moose Jaw Midget A Mavericks are in the middle of a great season in both the Saskatchewan female midget hockey league and in the tournaments they've entered.

Head coach Mike Botterill is happy with the way the team has been playing.

“They’re working hard and I think that they’re fitting in with each other,” Botterill said. “The passing has really improved, and the communication on the ice is going well so I think that that is showing on the scoreboard as well.”

They have a 7-1 record in the Sask Female Hockey League regular season and have also played in tournaments including a successful one in Montana that they won over a Notre Dame AA team.

Makayla Anderson has led the way on the scoresheet with eight goals and six assists in eight games, with Sidney Ellingson close behind with six goals and five assists. The Mavericks also have a steady tandem of Syndee Christmann with a 1.50 goals against average in four games, and Schay Camphaug, with a 2.25 GAA in four games.

“We’re already more than halfway through our league’s games, so we’re looking forward to a bit of a break here and we’ll get rolling again in the first and second week of January.”

Their record puts them with 14 points, one ahead of the second place EC Fillies at 6-0-1.

Their next action is Friday at the South East Gold Wings.
