So, Marc Smith, sports announcer, provides colour commentary on Warriors Hockey on Country 100 up in Prince Albert last night.  He drives home, gets home at 3 am and shows up for work at 5:30.  He's a gamer.

I used to do the same thing.  I remember one morning after a game in Swift Current.  Our GM back then was The Cowboy, the late Vern Traill.  He didn't come in very often but when he did it was at 8 am sharp and his sales staff had better be on time on those days.

One day, one wasn't.  He was half an hour late.  The Cowboy chewed him out.  He said, "Carnsie showed up at 5:30 and he was in Seattle last night."  (It was Swift Current but I didn't want to interupt).  "He can call a game in Seattle on a Tuesday night and be back in Moose Jaw for the morning show and YOU can't show up to sell a little airtime at 8 o'clock?"

I found it quite amusing.  I enjoyed my moment on the pedestal.  That sales executive didn't like it much.  But, that was OK because he didn't last long.  I don't think he liked Vern.  I loved him.
