Good moisture levels on the farm are critical for both livestock management and cropping, and local farmers are feeling a little better these days following the moisture that came our way in the recent winter snow storm.

Total amounts of snow vary from area to area, but everyone seemed to recieve a healthy amount.

Sheldon Okerstrom, who farms around Moose Jaw told us, "we probably got eight to ten inches anyway".

Calvin Ackerman farms near Chamberlin and he reported even more, saying, "it must be pushing a foot (of snow) anyway".

In terms of how the snow helps the situation on the farm, Ben Thiessen of Eyebrow was optimistic.

"It's been very dry so the moisture is very welcome.  All the dugouts were getting low and this will help fill them.  It also gives the ground a little bit of cover.  I couldn't be happier with this snow".
