Lacrosse season in Moose Jaw opened up on Monday night with a pair of teams hitting the court in the Queen City Box Lacrosse League and both coming away with lopsided wins.

Here in Moose Jaw, the Peewee Mustangs hosted the Regina Rebels for their season opener and rolled to a 6-2 win.

Liam Fitzpatrick had a pair of goals to lead the way for the Mustangs, while Brennan Watterson, Rowan Calvert, Braxton MacAngus and Rhett Chute also scored in the win.

Moose Jaw built up a 4-0 lead heading into the third period and despite an early goal in the frame from the Rebels, held off any push with two more goals for the easy win.

The Peewee Mustangs will be back on the court next Monday to face the Regina Titans in the Queen City.

In other Monday action, the Midget Mustangs headed to Lumsden to battle the Regina Honeybadgers.  Quinn Ingalls scored six goals and added two assists to lead the way for Moose Jaw in a 12-1 win.

Ingalls opened the scoring for Moose Jaw just 45 seconds into the game, but the Honeybadgers evened the score just past the five-minute mark.  It was all Mustangs after that however as they took a 5-1 lead after one.

Moose Jaw extended their advantage to 10-1 after two periods and then added two more goals in the third to finish off the win.

In addition to Ingalls’ big night, the Mustangs also saw two goals and four points from Cole Morash, while Brogan Townsend had two goals and three points.

Charly Nolting and Hunter Viczko had the other goals in the win for the Mustangs.

Moose Jaw will return to the court next Monday to face the Regina Rock at the Al Ritchie Arena.
