The 8th annual Paws for Pledges Radiothon on Country 100 is just under a month away, raising money for the Moose Jaw Humane Society.

Over the last 7 years, over half a million dollars have been raised through the fundraiser, all to help fund healthcare for the animals being sheltered, as well as food and other essentials.

The radiothon was able to raise over $108,000 in 2019

Dana Haukaas with the Human Society talks about why this radiothon is so important.

"Every organization that raises money is really important, but oftentimes animal shelters fall through the cracks. Any grants are really difficult for us to get because we just don't meet their criteria, so it's important for our community to donate to us especially during our radiothon. It's the shelter's biggest fundraiser of the year."

While this year has certainly looked different for most fundraisers and in-person gatherings, those looking to donate to the radiothon shouldn't notice too much different compared to previous years.

"We're still going to be able to accept people's donations through the phone with a credit card, or if you come to the shelter, we'll come right out to your vehicle with our debit machine and you can make your donation in-person that day as well. You can also make your donation ahead of time by calling us, or going to our website and clicking that donate button."

The twelve-hour radiothon is on Friday, November 6.
