Residents of the Bentley Moose Jaw Retirement Residence were visited by a tiny gang of kittens earlier this week.

What was supposed to be a short trip turned into a few hours of company for residents.

Even though the visit was planned for less than an hour, the Moose Jaw Humane Society volunteers kindly stuck around for well over two hours in order to give all the residents some snuggle time.

Kittens recently visited residents at a local retirement community."The Humane Society gets cats and dogs, but mostly cats, surrendered to us when a senior has to go into a care facility where they're not allowed to take their pet with them," said Dana Haukaas, MJHS executive director.

"It's really devastating for them, so this is a great opportunity for them to still get some feline companionship without having to actually own a pet anymore." Haukaas continued.

The smiles on the resident's faces really say it all. Bonny Rossler is the director of administrative services at the Bentley and said it was a beautiful afternoon for the residents and the kittens.

"The Humane Society was kind enough to bring some beautiful little kittens over just to give the kittens a chance to acclimatize to humans and give our residents a chance to reminisce from the time they were living in their own home with their own pets," said Rossler.

Rossler continued, "Every one of our residents took a turn at snuggling with those kitties and just closing their eyes and remembering a time a new life comes into the world and this baby kitten is reliant on you to snuggle it and protect it."

Depending on volunteer availability, the Humane Society will continue to offer kitten visits to senior's homes upon request.
