The Moose Jaw High School Curling City Championship playdowns opened on Thursday afternoon at the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre with six games hitting the ice.

In the boys division, Riverview advanced with a 6-5 win over Peacock 2. They will now take on Vanier in the next round at 9 a.m. Friday.

Peacock 1 knocked off Central 2, 8-1, while Central 1 topped Cornerstone, 8-3. Peacock 1 will now face Central 1 in the winner’s bracket. Central 2 and Cornerstone meet in the loser’s bracket. Both games go at 9 a.m. Friday as well.

There’s also games in the boys division at 3:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday. The semifinal is at 9 a.m. Saturday and the final starts at noon with a second game at 3 p.m, if necessary.

On the girls side, Vanier 1 rolled to an 11-4 win over Central and Cornerstone 1 downed Cornerstone 2, 10-3.

Vanier 1 will now meet Cornerstone 1 in the winner’s bracket semifinal on Friday morning, while Central and Cornerstone 2 will battle in the loser bracket’s quarterfinal. Both games are at 9 a.m.

The loser bracket semifinal is at 3:45 p.m. Friday and then the final will follow at 7 p.m.

The mixed playoffs opened with Peacock 1 beating Peacock 2, 10-3.

Peacock 1 will now take on Riverview in the winner’s bracket semifinal at 9 a.m. Friday, while Peacock 2 drops down to the loser bracket and will take on the loser of the semifinal.

The mixed final is at 7 p.m. Friday night.
