It's something that only takes up about an hour of your day and has the potential to help save a life.

The Canadian Blood Services (CBS) is returning to the Friendly City on Tuesday for their monthly donor clinic, which will be the first one in 2019.

"It can take upwards of eight donors a week to help somebody who is undergoing Leukemia treatments. Somebody who has or is undergoing cancer treatments it can take five donors, and in those unfortunate situations like car crashes it can take upwards of 50 donors to help that person," said Territory Manager for Donor Relations for the CBS, Aaron Barlow.

Sometimes the trick to becoming a regular donor is just remembering when you are eligible again. Barlow said there's now an easy way to keep track of that.

"One of the easiest ways you can track that is by downloading the Give Blood app from the iTunes store or Google Play. Once you've populated that app on your phone it will give you your next eligibility date, and you also search when our clinics are going to be in Moose Jaw."

For those first time donors who are unsure where to start, Barlow detailed the process of finding the criteria to become a blood donor.

"There's a number of ways you can go about finding your eligibility. One of the easiest ways is by going on to blood.ca; there's a section called the A, B, C's of eligibility and it's just a quick drop down of different questions you might have. If you have any specific questions, there's always someone on the line of 1-888-2-DONATE."

Time is running out to book your appointment, but the clinic will be accepting walk-ins as well. Moose Jaw's first blood donor clinic will be held at their usual location at the Exhibition Grounds, from 2 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday.
