She has very fond memories of her days in Moose Jaw, working at CHAB Radio.

Florence Alarie (Kapell) came to Moose Jaw in 1950 for some post-secondary schooling.  She grew up in Windthorst, Saskatchewan, listening to CHAB and back in those days, the Mailbag radio program was a most popular show.  People across the province tuned it in to catch the latest happenings.

It wasn't long after moving to Moose Jaw that Florence became a regular on the show, playing her guitar and singing some of her favourite country and western songs.  That would lead to Florence getting a job in reception at the radio station and, eventually, she got her own radio show called "Riding Around the Range".

Florence's grandson reached out to us several months ago, asking if we had any recordings saved from those days.  Unfortunately, we don't.

But, wheels started turning when Florence's family learned we would soon be celebrating our 100th anniversary at CHAB.

Long story short?  Florence and several members of her family were able to attend our 100th anniversary celebration at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

She came in for a tour of our new, modern facilities before attending our party.  We had a visit, shared some memories and had a wonderful time.

Oh, and as you'll hear when you listen to our visit, Florence is still an entertainer, singing and playing for the "old folks" in Dauphin, Manitoba from time to time.

She also left us a recording of her performing an old Kitty Wells song.
