After some much-needed rain, it seems as though storm season could be upon us.

Environment Canada has issued a weather advisory for the City of Moose Jaw and surrounding areas.

Conditions are favourable for the development of funnel clouds due to a weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms.

These types of rotations are not typically dangerous near the ground, but a landspout tornado could develop. Landspout tornadoes do not usually cause significant damage but can still be dangerous.

The statement says these landspout tornadoes could be strong enough to topple trees, damage roofs or toss debris short distances. Also, treat any funnel cloud sighting seriously. Should a funnel cloud develop nearby, prepare to take shelter. These funnel clouds usually appear with little or no warning.

There isn't currently any watches or warnings in place for tornadoes, but conditions will be monitored closely over the weekend.
