The Saskatchewan Health Authority Patient Booking System has been moving along effectively since it launched Thursday. Friday morning, they expanded the eligibility to use the system to book a COVID-19 vaccine to include those over the age of 80, instead of just those over the age of 85. Then, it was announced Friday afternoon the age range would be expanding again, now including those over the age of 76.

Those who meet the criteria to book an appointment can do so online, or they can call 1-833-SASKVAX (1-833-727-5829) to book the appointment.

While the vaccine booking system has proven to be successful, the province is starting the rollout of the AstraZeneca vaccine in the province. The vaccine is approved by Health Canada for those between the ages of 18-64.

Starting Sunday, the AstraZeneca vaccine will be administered to Phase 1 health care workers. Then, on Monday, a drive-thru clinic will be set up to continue the process. The drive-thru clinic will only be for those who are 64 years old as of March 15th. The appointments for the drive-thru clinics cannot be pre-booked.

The drive-thru clinics, which will be at the Regina Exhibition Grounds, will begin to open up for other ages from oldest to youngest in the days afterwards. The public is asked to not attend the clinic unless you have been advised that your age is eligible. The Saskatchewan Health Authority has stated they will issue a public service announcement as each subsequent age group becomes eligible.
