Producers in the Moose Jaw area will get a chance to learn about the latest economic trends affecting agriculture at a workshop this afternoon.

Agricultural Economist Dr. David Kohl will make make a stop in Moose Jaw today.  His tour of the province will also take him to Yorkton, Tisdale and Saskatoon to speak on topics that include the “mega-trends” affecting the ag economy and how we can position ourselves best for success.

Rachel Kraynick, a farm business management specialist with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture.

"There's that old saying, think globally but act locally," she said. "I think that's really critical to have for the proactive business person attempting to give a strategic advantage in today's day and age."

Kraynick says Dr. Kohl will speak on some topics, including the latest mega-trends happening in the ag sector.

"So we're seeing a bunch of trends that are happening, whether it's consumer trends, trends of technology, global issues, international trade or even the transitions from baby boomers to the millennials or Gen X'er."

The presenation goes this afternoon from 1:00 - 3:30 at the Mae Wilson Theater.
