Today, along with nine new cases of COVID-19, the Saskatchewan Health Authority is reporting one new death in the South region. The person was in the 70-79 age range. This marks the 17th death in Saskatchewan related to COVID-19.

The new cases are located in the South (3), Saskatoon (2), North (2), Central (1) and Regina (1) regions. With a total of 1,218 reported cases, 294 are considered active. Another 21 people have recovered for a total of 907.

The SHA has also announced that due to increasing COVID-19 activity in the area of Herbert, emergency services will NOT be available at the Herbert and District Integrated Facility, effective July 30, until further notice.

In the event of an emergency, residents of Herbert should call 9-1-1 or visit the emergency departments in either Swift Current or Moose Jaw. You are asked however to call 8-1-1 Healthline before visiting either.

In addition, the SHA is reminding residents to remember public health orders over the long weekend.

•       Wash your hands frequently.

•       Practice physical distancing of two metres.

•       Wear a mask in settings where physical distancing cannot be maintained.

•       Limit contacts outside your home to your extended household group.

•       Stay home if you are sick.

There may be social or peer pressure to attend events that you feel pose an unacceptable amount of risk to you and your family. Decisions not to attend are your own, and are not cause for ridicule or shame. Family and friends should understand and respect the measures that people are taking to stay healthy and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
