An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared by the Saskatchewan Health Authority at Victoria Towers here in Moose Jaw.

Outbreaks are declared when one or more person tests positive for COVID-19 in a setting outside of a private home. It does not necessarily pose a health risk to the public.

Victoria Towers is an independent retirement facility where each resident has an apartment of their own.

A spokesperson from the Moose Jaw Housing Authority, which manages the facility, says that they have received no clarification from the SHA as to whether the positive cases were found amongst the residents or staff at Victoria Towers.

Follow-up testing is being made available to all the residents but is not mandatory.

This is the third ongoing outbreak here in Moose Jaw, including ones at the offices of Viterra Inc. and Ranch Ehlro child care.
