One disease canola producers need to watch out for is clubroot.

Pat Flaten, Research Manager with the Saskatchewan Canola Development Commission says clubroot has hit some parts of Alberta, "Some areas have been hit pretty hard with clubroot disease, in canola it's been quite devastating and so, we in Saskatchewan kind of wanted to take a closer look at what was happening in our province."

One field in south central Saskatchewan has been affected by the pathogene clubroot disease. Flaten says they sampled the field for a second time to check for the pathogens, "There were some very minor symptoms that should up on the roots and those roots were sent in and in fact the DNA of the clubroot pathogen was found and confirmed."

Signs of clubroot include wilting, yellowing or unusual canola growth.
