From gifts and travel to food and entertainment, we are about to open up our wallets for The Holiday Season in Canada.

The stats are out and they show we'll spend an average of $1,593.00 this Christmas which is up about 2%.

The Holiday Outlook Report from PriceWaterHouseCoopers also found Canadians plan to spend 41% of our holiday shopping time online, up about 4% from last year.  Still, 59% of us plan to shop in stores.

As you might expect, 55% of millennials and 49% of Gen Zs are doing their shopping online.  It's interesting to note, Amazon Prime memberships in our country are up 60% from last year and now in 37% of Canadian households.

It's also interesting to note, despite the fact our debt-to-income ratio is on the rise, this report found "...more than 80% plan to use their credit card" this Christmas and "...only 17% are concerned about credit card debt and 21% are not worried about it."

It sounds like we're gonna have a good Christmas!
