Two teams looking for an early season statement win hooked up on Friday in the Moose Jaw High School Football League.

The defending champion Yorkton Raiders improved to 2-0 on the year with a 38-14 win over the visiting Central Cyclones, who dropped to 1-1, under the lights on Friday night.

Yorkton quarterback Jordan Rusnak led the charge for the Raiders in the win, he went 13-of-20 for 195 passing yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 127 yards and a touchdown.

Running back Dylan Lepowick finished with 11 carries for 137 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

On Central's side, quarterback Ethan Johnson completed 17-of-35 passes for 262 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also rushed for a touchdown in the loss.

Receiver C.J. Vincent had a huge game with nine catches for 128 yards and a touchdown. Mathew Dyck also had three catches for 67 yards.

The Cyclones will now look to turn the page quickly as they prepare for a match-up with the Peacock Tornadoes on Tuesday, 4 p.m., at Gutheridge Field. Peacock improved to 1-1 with a 36-12 win over Estevan on Friday.

Other Week 3 action on Tuesday has the 0-2 Vanier Vikings traveling to Estevan to take on the 0-1 Elecs, while the 0-1 Weyburn Eagles are in Swift Current to battle the 2-0 Colts.
