The Grade 10 Leadership Class at Central Collegiate has been tasked with finding unique, creative ways to give back to the community.

The class split into groups, and one group of six came up with an idea involving bicycles that is sure to put a smile on some faces.

"Our teacher had challenged the entire class to give back to the community, so our group came together and come up with the idea to collect used bikes which are in good condition, and give them to new families in Moose Jaw who can't afford to buy bikes for their school-aged children."

The group is made up of Kolby Miller, Liv Erickson, Eden Payne, Amera Schauenbert, Brin Vanthuine, and John Li. The six are led by teacher Tana Rowe who said this is a great opportunity for the kids to show off that despite their age, they really are able to make a difference within the community.

"It's interesting to see how these awesome, amazing brains come together to try to find something that they want to give back to their school community and their home community," said Rowe, "Life is a little bigger than just yourself, and we want to make sure people know that teenagers can do a lot of good things because sometimes they get a bad rap."

So far, the group has collected six bikes, with five of those coming from donations over Facebook.

They will be collecting donated bikes until the end of the month, and if you have one that's in good condition and suitable for children aged 10-15 that you would like to donate, you're asked to call Central Collegiate.
