The first snowfall of the season has left many residents in the region without power since the early hours of Sunday morning. Residents are making the best of a tough situation and doing their best to keep themselves and their homes warm.

In Caronport, 25 kilometres west of Moose Jaw, some residents have been without power for almost 24 hours.

"We're 19 hours without power in Caronport," said Stewart Wallace when chatting with 800 CHAB's Rob Carnie around 6:30 a.m. Monday morning.

When asked how he was keeping warm, Wallace responded with a chuckle "blankets" before noting that he is still without power, a furnace, and internet.

As of 6:45 a.m., Sask Power hasn't provided an ETA on the resumption of power.

Late last night the utility said, "Customers in rural areas around Moose Jaw including Mortlach, Caron, Caronport, Briercrest, Avonlea, Rouleau, Belle Plaine, Marquis, Tuxford, Buffalo Pound, Drinkwater can expect power to be off overnight. Due to road closures and safety concerns."

Discover Moose Jaw has reached out to Sask Power and hadn't received a response prior to publishing.
