Carnie's Comments

It's Throwback Thursday. A time to look back at days gone by.

It was the 1970s and most fashionable businessmen were wearing the latest and for a time that meant suits with large flares on the trousers and wide lapels on the jackets with extra wide collars on the shirts and wide ties.

Not my dad, though. He liked his old school, tailored suits with slim-bottomed pants, regular shirt collars and skinnier ties.

I was an observant little boy and I was a little worried that he was falling behind the times.

I asked him why he wouldn't get one of those new suits that all the fellas were wearing.

He said, "Because I don't like them."

I said, "Why not?"

"Because they look ridiculous", he said.

"But, dad," I said, "the suits you're wearing aren't in style anymore."

He said, "They will be again. You just watch."

I did watch.  He was correct.
