The headline on DiscoverMooseJaw reads, "Ice Plants too Expensive to Run in Summer Says City Manager".

I thought that might get some attention.  Oh, it did.

In fact, former city councilor Patrick Boyle shared the story on social media.  He wrote, "So almost every other community in this province has a rink open but we can't.  Do better City of Moose Jaw."

Boyle also pointed out, and I quote, "$109 million in reserves but we can't keep a rink open for kids to skate in advance of the hockey season.  Makes sense."

It is a fact there are many local families hitting the highways this month to get their kids on the ice in surrounding communities.

Boyle's post sparked dozens of comments from local parents who would love to have the convenience of taking their little skaters to a local rink.

Oh, and Boyle's stance also has a number of locals calling for him to run for mayor.  That job is about to become available.
