Our "School News" feature on CHAB has been featuring some fun, Holiday Season activities in a number of our local schools.  They're having red and green days and Christmas sweater and pajama days.  I don't recall having that much fun when I was in elementary school.

I do, however, remember one class party when I was in grade 6 - my first year at King George School in Moose Jaw.

We had a really cool teacher.  He was a single guy, a sports fan and he drove a nice, new Chevy Camaro.  I admired him.

While other classrooms were celebrating with Christmas baking and fruitcake, our teacher arranged for a massive take-out order from The Burger Palace.  Remember that place?

I had never had food from there.  I asked the teacher what he would recommend.  He suggested I order a Baron Burger with fries and gravy.  I did.  It changed my life.

Those hamburgers had a flavour no one could replicate now.  It probably came from years of cooking and seasoning on that old, flattop grill they used.  The sauce was one-of-a-kind and that gravy on those greasy fries - oh, my goodness.

I'll bet some of my classmates from grade 6 remember that day as well as I do.  Or, maybe not!
