After losing just their second game of the season over the weekend, the Moose Jaw Canucks bounced back with a big effort on Monday night in the Queen City

The Canucks picked up a 9-5 win over the Regina White Sox to improve their record to 12-2-1 on the year in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League’s Midget AA Division.

Garrick Ward went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBI out of the lead-off spot for the Canucks in the win. Ryan Zerff had Moose Jaw’s other extra base hit with a double, he finished 1-for-2 with a run, RBI and walk.

The Canucks opened with four runs in the first inning and rolled the rest of the way to the win. They added two runs in the fourth and two in the fifth before sealing the win with one in the seventh.

On the mound, Ryan Botterill allowed five runs – only three earned – on five hits over 6.2 innings of work. Botterill had four strikeouts and no walks in the win.

Tysen Jordison came on for the final out, allowing one hit and striking out one.

The Canucks had lost just their second game of the season over the weekend when they split a doubleheader against the Regina Buffaloes at Ross Wells Park, winning 16-13 in the first game and then dropping a 13-3 game in the second half.

Moose Jaw returns to the field on Thursday night when they host the Regina Pacers at Ross Wells. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
