The Saskatchewan NDP are making the final preparations as they take the federal government to court on equalization next month.

It’s almost like waiting for a title bout in boxing.

The Saskatchewan government is making its final preparations for its legal fight against the federal government over equalization that's expected to go before the courts next month.

Premier Lorne Calvert explains they're having the courts test the Constitution and the idea that Saskatchewan owns the resources underground.

"What's at stake here for Saskatchewan people is 800 million dollars per year. That's not our number that's the federal government’s number. Taking advantage of the resources that belong to the people of Saskatchewan so that we can build for the future. But even more fundamentally here, what we had was a promise."
