There was plenty of action for local fastball fans on Tuesday night with doubleheaders at both Memorial Field and Caribou Heights.

The Moose Jaw Senior Ladies Fastball League hit the field for a pair of games on Tuesday, while there was two men’s fastball games in the Rambler Park Fastball League.

Giants Return to Win Column

The Moose Jaw Giants hit their way back into the win column with an 8-3 win over the Regina Hawks on Tuesday night at Memorial Field.

Joe MacDonald and Darryl Callaghan drove in runs in the opening inning to set the tone for the Giants and then they were able to add three runs in the sixth and seventh innings each to seal the win.

MacDonald finished 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI, while Callaghan and Todd Whitehead drove in two runs each.

Derek Ross got the start on the mound for the Giants, throwing five innings, allowing two runs on three hits with one strikeout and two walks.

The Giants are now 4-2 on the year.

The Canadians took on the Pasqua A’s in the second half of the doubleheader, but no score was reported.

Colts Stay Unbeaten

Mel Hopkinson went 2-for-2 with two runs scored to help the Colts to a 7-0 win over the Minors on Tuesday in the Moose Jaw Senior Ladies Fastball League.

The game was tight early with neither team breaking through in the first two innings.

The Colts finally cracked the Minors defence in the third with three runs in the frame. Jasmine Jackman drove in one run with a double and then came around to score, while Nic Whitehead hit a RBI-single and Ceanna Bruce also drove in a run with a triple in the frame. 

Hopkinson led off the fourth with a single and came around to score, before adding another run in the sixth, while Jana Kitts and Keri Legare also scored to seal the shutout win.

Colts pitchers picked up four strikeouts in the win as they improved to 3-0 on the year. The Minors are 0-2.

Jesse Chadwick was 2-for-2 in the loss for the Minors.

Heat Start Strong in Win over Hustlers

The Heat improved to 2-1 on the year with an 8-2 win over the Hustlers on Tuesday night.

Keisha Koch reached base in all four at-bats for the Heat, who scored early and often in the win.

The Heat jumped out to a 1-0 after the first and then added five more runs in the second inning to lead 6-2 after two.

Megan Auger kept the Hustlers in check, allowing two runs over seven innings, while Hanna Giddings scored a pair of runs in the win.

The Hustlers drop to 0-2 with the loss.

The next action in the Senior Ladies Fastball League is coming up on Thursday when the Heat square off with the Colts at 6:30 p.m. and the Hustlers go up against the Minors at 8:30 p.m.
