Theo Fleury during his time with the NHL's Calgary Flames.

Arguably the greatest player ever to hit the ice for the Moose Jaw Warriors, Theo Fleury will be going into the Warriors Hall of Fame on Friday.

Kelly Buchberger went into the Hall last year.  Him and Fleury became friends while playing in the Friendly City and then battled each other for years in the NHL.

Buchberger says Fleury's passion and intensity on the ice were unmatched, "Watching him play and the passion when he was younger, and even when he started playing with Moose Jaw, was unbelieveable, it didn't matter the size that he was.  He just played every shift like it was his last, just to prove everybody wrong that he could make it and then he made that next step obviously to the NHL."

What's his favourite memory of Theo? Buchberger says one stands out, "I've probably have a few, but the one that sticks out is the one when he got a penalty shot in Regina and he put the stick between his legs and put it top shelf and turned a few heads and made a few people mad in Regina."

Playing in the NHL against Fleury, Buchberger says you were always in for a battle, "You knew you had to bring your best out all the time.  He was one of the players that could raise his level and if you weren't on him and paying close attention to him, he was no question going to hurt you."

Fleury will be joined by Scott Thomas in this year's induction class.  The Hall of Fame banquet goes Friday at the Heritage Inn.  For tickets call 694-5711.
