On a night where hockey was secondary and all thoughts were with the Humboldt Broncos and their families, the Moose Jaw Warriors and Swift Current Broncos took to the ice on Saturday night at Mosaic Place.

The two sides started the night by coming together for an emotional pregame ceremony that included a moment of silence.

After that, Swift Current went to work on evening up the second round series by beating the Warriors 4-0 in Game 2.

Colby Sissons had three assists, while Tyler Steenbergen, Kaden Elder, Glenn Gawdin and Giorgio Estephan scored in the win for Swift Current.

Brody Willms made 26 saves in the loss for Moose Jaw. Broncos goalie Stuart Skinner was locked in on a 20-save night for the shutout.

Early in the first period, the Warriors had their opportunities on the Swift Current net as they did a good job getting inside home plate, but they weren’t able to convert.

Swift Current on the other hand used their dangerous power play to open the scoring at 13:08 when Gawdin put the puck in after taking a pass at the left goal line.

Again the Warriors had a good start to the second period, as they looked to push the puck to the Swift Current net, but unfortunately as the period went on they had a tough time generating a consistent attack. Swift Current however extended their lead to 3-0 after picking up goals from Estephan and Steenbergen.

In the third period, the Warriors weren’t able to claw their way back in to the game, while the Broncos added a late empty net goal to pick up the Game 2 4-0 win.

With this series now tied at one the Warriors will head to Swift Current for Games 3 and 4 coming up on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Catch all the action on Country 100 starting with the Westrum Lumber Timber Mart Pre-Game show at 6:40 p.m.
