Moose Jaw's Control Jui Jitsu has been posting great results and that continued this past weekend in Regina.

The local club collected four gold and 17 medals in total at the 2019 Western Kids Open.

"We brought 14 kids to the event, we ended up with four gold, eight silver and five bronze, and every kid, if they got a medal, they earned that medal," said Control BJJ coach Jason Church.

Kenzie Woods won two of the club's four gold medals taking the top spot in both the Girls Gi and No-Gi 9-10 67-79 lbs. divisions.

Dominic Myers came away with gold in the Boys GI 7-8 54-66 lbs. division, while Jake Wilson captured gold in the Boys GI 13-14 124-141 lbs. division.

"The success starts in our training room, we push these kids and they train, they train hard and it showed on the mats because they pushed the pace the entire time and made the other kids quit," said Church.

Church added that the growth that he’s seen out of the athletes has been incredible.

"They've put in the time on the mats, not only in the tournaments but in the training room, some kids are even doing private sessions, it's non-stop, these kids love it and it shows out there."

Carter Beliveau won a pair of silver medals, while Myers, Wilson, Birkley Patrosh, Roque Spaan-Murray, Chloe Beliveau and Sophia Page also won silver medals.

Patrosh, Page and Chloe Beliveau also came away with bronze medals, while Vander Woods captured a pair of bronze medals.
