The sun was shining and the rain stayed away for the Lynbrook Golf Club on Friday as they hosted their annual Canada Day Tournament.

Trevor Benson won the Men’s Championship, while Debbie Firth took the Ladies’ Championship as they beat out 50 other competitors during the tournament.

Benson edged out his father, Craig Benson, via retrogression after both players shot one-over 72.  Kevin Trumblay ended up in third place with a seven-over 78.

Firth took the ladies’ title by four strokes over Linda Stirton after shooting an 87 for the win.

The men’s first flight was won by John Stirton, who shot a 75 to just beat Doug Maes by three strokes.  Chris Hibbin was the first low net in the first flight with a 68, beating Tim Peakman by one shot.

Marv Maier took the men’s second flight with a 79, beating Garry Ross by five strokes, while Scot McGregor was the low net with a 71.

In the men’s third flight, Bob Turnbull took top spot with an 82 to top Kelly Larson by one shot, while Ben Azzouzi was the first low net with a 67.

The men’s fourth flight went to Ken Jattansingh who fired an 88 to edge Don Thompson by four shots.  Ted Swenson was the low net with a 62.

Sharon Knittel won the ladies’ first flight, shooting an 98 to beat Adele Owatz by two shots.  Margot Swenson was the low net, posting a 76.
