The Water Security Agency released its latest spring runoff forecast for 2022, showing that the Moose Jaw area can expect below-normal runoff.

Below normal runoff is expected in south-central Saskatchewan and reaches up into the northwest through North Battleford and Lloydminster.

Areas that are west of Moose Jaw to the Alberta border are forecasted to have well below normal runoff.

The low runoff could result in water shortages and water quality issues later in the year.

Meanwhile, areas east of Moose Jaw to the Manitoba border have near-normal runoffs forecasted. There is a small section around Regina, east to Indian Head and south to Weyburn that is projected to have an above-normal runoff.

These runoff forecasts by the Water Security Agency assume normal weather conditions moving forward. Any increase in runoffs not already underway will be reflected in the April forecast.

The current report can be found on wsask.ca under Provincial Forecast.
