The final count is in, and Ashdown’s Furniture and Interiors collected over 170 donations under their tree for their toy drive in support of Moose Jaw Family Services.

The total included toys and gift cards that will be going to local children.

Saturday afternoon saw family support workers, Ashdown’s employees, and Pharmasave employees come together to sort and wrap the gifts, with wrapping supplies provided by Pharmasave.

Tara Jones, executive director of Moose Jaw Family Services, said they appreciate the support from Ashdown’s and the community. “This means that we are able to make sure that at least 63 families that we are connected with have a gift under their tree for every one of their children.”

Any toys that are not used during the holiday season will be saved for the future. “Anything that goes over and above what we need for Christmas, we’re able to then support families with birthdays or with other important events that happen throughout the year.”

Moose Jaw Family Services is also seeking assistance with creating 70-100 hampers, including breakfast and meals throughout the holiday season, as local organizations that support families with food will be closed for the holidays towards the end of December. To learn more about supporting them, you can visit their website, or call 306-694-8133.

Eleisha Lanz, owner of Ashdown’s, says the support of the local community was amazing. "The amount of customers that came in with donations, and multiple donations – the amount of people that came in just to donate – Moose Jaw definitely is a community of giving.”

Lanz said they will be looking to hold a toy drive for Moose Jaw Family Services again next year.
