The Moose Jaw Kinsmen Aqua Otters synchronized swimming team put together a solid performance over the weekend in Saskatoon.

The local club sent 17 swimmers on three teams to the Sadie Caulder Knight Provincial Championship and came away with two podium finishes.

"Two out of the three teams that went to the competition, this was their first competition all year and for some of the little girls, it was their first competition ever, so they pulled it off pretty good," said Coach Alysa Beattie.

In the 10U Limited Team Free Final, the Aqua Otters 1, which features Emily Boese, Ava Rosso and Macey Binsfeld, took home first place, while the Aqua Otters 2 placed fourth.

Beattie said the fourth-place finish for the Aqua Otters 2 was really impressive.

"Maybe only two of them had been to a competition before, so fourth place is really good," she said.

"None of them really seemed that nervous, usually there are lots of tears and girls don’t want to get into the pool, but I didn't experience that, so they gain more confidence and they amazed me how well they performed under pressure."

In the 13-15 Limited Team Free Final, the Aqua Otters walked away with a second place finish, scoring 96.83 points, which was just behind Flin Flon's 97.42 points in first place.

"They did pretty amazing for basically going into this competition with a whole new routine," said Beattie.

"We didn't really get to the new routine until two weeks before the competition, so they really pulled together and I was proud of them."

Individually, Xyra Seargeant and Eowyn Hutchinson finished 1-2 in the 8U Limited Figures division.

Ava Rosso finished third in the 11-12 Limited Figures division.

Lara Shkuratoff picked up a second place finish in the 13-15 Limited Figures division, while Abbi Allan and Anna Thorn just missed the podium in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
