The Moose Jaw Warriors' Denton Mateychuk and Brayden Yager are still with Canada's National Junior Team. Yesterday they played a pre-tournament game against the Denmark U25 team and came away with an 8-0 win with Mateychuck scoring twice and Yager added another marker for Canada.

The Moose Jaw Warriors have plenty of time to prepare for their next game. The team is next on the ice against the Regina Pats at the Moose Jaw Events Centre on December 29th. 

They play pre-tournament games on Friday and Saturday before the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships get underway on boxing day in Sweden.

On Saturday, a special fundraiser is taking place for the U15 AA Warriors game at the Moose Jaw Events Centre against the Sask East Oilers. The 50/50 draw proceeds will be going to the family of Brady Grasdal who recently passed away at the age of 21. Puck drop is 7:15 p.m.

In local high school basketball action last night, the Lumsden senior boys came away with a 60-56 win over Vanier. In senior girls' action, Swift Current defeated Vanier 56-39.

In the NHL last night, four Canadian teams were in action, the New York Rangers defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2, the Edmonton Oilers dropped a 3-1 decision to the New York Islanders, the Vancouver Canucks came out on top 5-2 over the Nashville Predators and the Ottawa Senators lost 4-3 to the Arizona Coyotes.
