Biker boots, leather, and giant teddy bears.

The Moose Jaw Cycle Association is gearing up for a milestone year for the annual toy drive. Club President, Murray Roney explained just why this event is so important to the community

"I just think at Christmas time, every kid deserves to get something. Even if their family can't afford it, or circumstances don't dictate they can, every kid deserves something."

"For me, I can afford to go out and get 2 or 3 toys. (so) I go out and buy 2 or 3 toys strap them on my bike. It's the same with a lot of the people (who attend) it's not just one gift they bring. There'll be some people who bring 2, 3, or 4 toys strapped on there because they can afford to help these kids."

With the holiday season still months away, The Salvation Army is always in need of donations. A fact that is well known throughout the motorcycle community.

"Everybody helps everybody out. We go to Regina's (Toy Run), they come to ours. We go to Assiniboia's, they come to ours. It's more like a big happy family. If you've got a place you can ride and you can donate stuff, bike people are into it." Explained Roney.

The Annual Toy Run returns to Moose Jaw on Saturday, September 15th at 2:00 pm. The line up will begin at the bottom of the 4th Ave. Bridge and travels up Main Street to the Salvation Army Citadel where toys will be unloaded.

Those who do not ride a motorcycle are still encouraged to join in, make a donation and join riders for coffee and donuts at the end of the route. Simply bring a new, unwrapped toy, cash donation or a book. A steak night at the Park Hotel will wrap up the fundraising for the day. is Moose Jaw's only source for community news and information such as weather and classifieds.
