Students are on the holiday break and if you're looking to keep them busy over the several days, Moose Jaw has plenty of outdoor activities to offer.

In addition to all the walking trails and disc golf in Wakamow Valley, The Oval has always been a popular place to spend an afternoon and is ready for skaters but there are plenty of other options.

The lights are turned on daily between 5 pm and 10 pm with heated shacks available in some locations.

On the east side of the city, two rinks can be found, East End Rink off 9th Ave, which does have a heated shack, weather permitting. The other is Clark Gillies Rink, which is located on Ross Crescent and Oxford Street East.

In the North West area, the city maintains three rinks with shacks on-site, including Moose Square Rink on Stadicona Street, West End Rink off Athabasca Street and Regal Heights Rink on 13th Ave. There is also the Elgin Park skating pad and the Henleaze skating pad which do not have boards.

Other rinks with heated shacks include Smith Park Rink on the south side of the city and Sunningdale Rink on Daffodil Drive, which is also near Wood Lily Rink.

Across the bridge, Kinfield Rink can also be found on Grandview Street West along with Westheath Rink on Spadina Drive, which is maintained by the South Hill Community Association.

The Kinsmen West Park skating pad on Meier Drive and Veterans Peace Park Rink on Admiral Drive are also taken care of by local community associations.

For something a little different this season, families are also welcome to try out Crokicurl, which is a combination of crokinole and curling, located outside the Kinsmen Sportsplex. To book a time, click here
