Hoping that businesses will do their due diligence before making a final decision, the Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce is voicing their concerns after three local roads finished in the top ten on a list of the worst roads in the province.

The online voting campaign is held every year with CAA Saskatchewan looking to bring attention to what they call dangerous roads for drivers, motorcyclists and pedestrians. Typically, the campaign sees highways listed around the province and while five of the top ten worst roads were highways, the other half were urban roads, something that CAA officials found interesting.

Moose Jaw's High Street West finished in first place when all of the votes were counted with 1st Avenue SE and 9th Avenue SW also cracking the top ten. Chamber CEO Rob Clark feels the results will have an impact.

"I think the opportunity is there for them to still invest here but it might turn two or three away as well." said Clark who noted that confidence in the community is down. "It lays in our city's hands now to get some stuff done, especially with the roads and then start turning the perception."

While roads are something of concern for locals and investors looking at the next few years, Clark feels the work being done to water and sewer infrastructure is a positive that investors will also look at when considering the long term.
