It was short, but it was powerful

For the second time in the month of March, Moose Jaw and southern Saskatchewan were lashed by strong winds, blowing snow, and icy roads as Mother Nature took one last winter swipe at the prairies.

Conditions are expected to improve rapidly with above zero temperatures for Saturday.  Sunday could bring a bit more snow activity, but for the most part it appears the worst is over.

As the storm crawled eastward Friday afternoon, posts on social media pointed to very troublesome driving conditions.

  • Regina to Moose Jaw - really gross.  I went 50-60 kph the whole way and it only took me an hour and 20 minutes.  Slow down and drive safe.
  • Between GC (Grande Coulee) and Pense, single lane, crawling at 60 kph, 1/2 mile visibility down to a 1/4 mile.
  • If you don't need to go anywhere don't!!  Highway is horrible, snow covered and low visibility.  Did 60-65 the whole way home.

The snowfall warning ended for Moose Jaw just before 4 pm on Friday.

RCMP are advising to be very careful if you plan to travel.  For the latest highway conditions click here, and for up to date push notifications download the free Moose Jaw Live app to your smartphone.
