Moose Jaw and the surrounding area are in the grip of a winter storm.

A strong low-pressure system is tracking along the International border today, bringing heavy snow to much of southern Saskatchewan. Anywhere from 10 to 25 cm is expected throughout the day and into the evening.

Along with the heavy snow, strong northerly winds are expected to produce blowing snow and reduce visibility.

Environment Canada says these conditions should be considered hazardous for travelers.

Roads around the city are still open but are more slippery than usual.
